KUCHING, May 1: Applications to join the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) for land transport vehicles in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will open from May 4 through the MySubsidi portal from 9am.
According to a press release, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) said that land freight transport companies that are eligible and entitled to subsidies for vehicles registered under SKDS are subject to the rates set by the government.
It also added that the current subsidised diesel price for the land freight transport sector under SKDS is RM2.15 per litre.
“Land freight vehicles are eligible for SKDS registration only if they hold valid and active motor vehicle licences (LKM) and are registered with commercial vehicle licensing boards in Sabah or Sarawak,” said the ministry.
It also added that it is mandatory that the company, business or cooperative be registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia, local authorities or the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission, and have their vehicles listed under the 23 approved freight vehicle categories under SKDS.
“Subsidised diesel purchases will be made using fleet cards, and approved companies must apply for cards with their oil company of choice and submit their approval letters and vehicle lists, which can be obtained from the SKDS system.
“Companies then may submit applications to up to three oil companies— PETRONAS, Shell, and Petron. Processing and delivery for the fleet card will take between two and three weeks, and the SKDS approval letter’s validity depends on the LKM or road tax period,” said KPDN.
It also added that LKM and road tax must be updated before the 28th of each month, and that the expiration date for the LKM must extend into the following month so that the applicant is eligible for the following month’s subsidy.
On Apr 6, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof said that fleet cards will be expanded to Sarawak, Sabah, and Labuan for land freight transport under the SKDS. — DayakDaily
