KUCHING, Nov 10: The Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) is urgently seeking foster parents for nearly 40 abandoned puppies and kittens currently under its care.

SSPCA president Datin Dona Drury Wee is calling for volunteers to step forward as foster parents.

“We need more people to help, who can provide loving, temporary in-home care for these puppies until they are ready to be neutered and put up for adoption,” she told DayakDaily when contacted today.

Considering the plight of these rescued puppies and kittens, SSPCA hopes more individuals will consider opening up their homes as foster parents and help transform the lives of these animals in need.

The animal shelter at Kota Sentosa is currently home to over 400 dogs.

With limited resources in terms of both staff and volunteers, the influx of 40 abandoned puppies and kittens has stretched the shelter’s capabilities, making the need for foster parents even more pressing.

SSPCA is also welcoming donations to contribute to the medical care and overall well-being of the animals.

In addition to foster parents, the SSPCA urgently appeals for community support in replenishing essential supplies including rice, detergent powder, bleach, dishwashing detergent, and brooms, which are running low.

Dona also reminded the public that a free anti-rabies vaccinations with drive-through services, including microchipping and pets licensing registration services is taking place tomorrow (Nov 11) from 8.30am to 4.30pm at Kuching South City Council’s (MBKS) Community Hall compound.

“Additionally, this campaign will also offer subsidised neutering services for dogs by MBKS,” she added.

She encouraged pet owners to take this opportunity to bring their pet animals for their annual vaccination if they have not done so. — DayakDaily
