4 foreigners intercepted sneaking into Sarawak via Biawak, prompting immediate deportation

KUCHING, May 2: Four foreign individuals, one of whom was a woman, were ordered to return to their home country after being apprehended for attempting to enter Sarawak unlawfully today.

According to a statement, the First Infantry Division reported that a collaborative effort between its army unit and the Indonesian army unit led to the detection of the group approaching the Sarawak-Indonesia border around 11.45am in Biawak.

The group, consisting of three men and a woman aged between 26 and 50, was detained for inspection.


No prohibited or dangerous items were found among the foreigners’ belongings, aside from a sum of cash, phones, wallets, and luggage with a total value of RM5,150.

Subsequent to the inspection, the individuals were escorted to the country’s border for repatriation to Indonesia.

A police report has been filed at the Lundu Police Station to ensure that the deportation adhered to regulations.

The army affirmed its commitment to bolster border security and uphold Sarawak’s sovereignty, particularly by deterring illegal entry, smuggling, and cross-border criminal activities. — DayakDaily
