Occupational permit for Unifor Charitable Trust Building to be issued on Sept 1

The Unifor Charitable Trust Building is currently under construction at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee.

KUCHING, May 2: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has announced that the Unit For Other Religion (Unifor) Charitable Trust Building will receive its occupational permit (OP) on Sept 1.

Despite being slightly behind schedule, Uggah expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the contractor, noting that the Charitable Trust Board members are pleased with the developments.

He said there are teething problems here and there, but the board are very confident the contractor would be able to resolve these problems.

“This project is critical for Sarawak and symbolizes the exclusivity of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, so it must be completed on time,” he stated during a progress meeting on the project held near Jalan Ong Tiang Swee.

“The complex will also have a few shoplots for businesses and the sustainability will depend on how these are managed,” he explained.

Uggah also revealed that with the OP issued, Unifor will do their renovation in September or December.

Upon receiving the OP, Unifor will commence renovations in September or December, with plans to relocate to the premises in 2025.

The Unifor Charitable Trust building project has an estimated cost of RM80 million.
