KUCHING, July 12: The Sarawak government’s success in bringing the State into the National Recovery Plan Phase Two is a great gift to the people and businesses alike, which the people ought to be thankful for.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Dato Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said entering the second phase means some industries other than essential services will be allowed to operate starting July 14.

He said more people from the informal, micro, small and medium businesses will soon be able to earn their living as well.

“These are the groups of people who are badly affected by the MCO (Movement Control Order). Without savings, insurance and other safety nets, it would be difficult (for them) to survive.

“The government provided food on the table, and assistance are noble and helpful but how long can these go on,” he said in a statement today.

Wan Junaidi, who is also Santubong MP, thus congratulated the Sarawak government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and his cabinet members who have steered the State out of NRP Phase One.

Expressing thanks also to State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), he lauded SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and his team for doing an excellent job in simultaneously controlling Covid-19 and administering vaccines.

He also mentioned the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) people representatives and leaders in Sarawak for their effort in coordinating the opening of Covid-19 vaccination centres across the State.

“The GPS representatives have been contributing by supervising and arranging for the opening of vaccination centres in respective constituencies including those in the interior of Sarawak.

“They are doing a fantastic job. This adds to Sarawak’s good performances. Well done GPS, well done GPS YBs and you are all doing a fantastic job,” commended Wan Junaidi. — DayakDaily
