KUCHING, Aug 31: Patriotism should not be limited to celebrations and symbolism alone, but should instead be expressed through responsibility, loyalty to the country, respect for diversity, and every individual’s willingness to play a role in strengthening society and contributing to the nation’s progress.
In his National Day 2026 message published by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar also called on Malaysians to reflect on the meaning of love for the country, appreciate the sacrifices of previous generations, and be grateful for the peace and prosperity they enjoy.
At the same time, he also reminded Sarawakians to continue safeguarding the harmony that is the State’s strength by respecting diversity in race, religion, culture, and background.
In an increasingly complex world, he said that the strength of relationships among the people and societal values should be given attention alongside development achievements.
“Let us make this National Day a point at which we renew our resolve, strengthen unity of hearts, and rekindle our love for the country.
“With a spirit of togetherness, mutual respect and shared responsibility, we can continue to build a peaceful, stable, progressive and prosperous Malaysia for both the present and future generations,” he said. — DayakDaily
