KUCHING, Sept 11: Several parts of Sarawak continue to see improvements in air quality, with Air Pollutant Index (API) readings remaining below 200 as rain continues to fall across the State as of 8am today.
According to data from the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak, most areas are currently in the unhealthy and moderate categories.
Serian and Lundu remained in the unhealthy category, recording API readings of 195 and 177, respectively, compared with 212 and 233 recorded the previous day (Sept 10).
The continued rainfall has brought further relief from the haze, with Serian recording the highest API reading in the unhealthy category at 195, followed by Kuching (180), Samarahan (179), Lundu (177), Samalaju (177), Tebedu (175), Sri Aman (171), Sarikei (164), Bintulu (162), Betong (162), Lubok Antu (159), Kanowit (159), Sibu (157), Mukah (155), Miri (147), and the Industrial Training Institute (ILP) Miri (117).
Meanwhile, Lawas moved into the moderate category after remaining in the unhealthy category for several days, recording an API reading below 100.
Bario, which had remained in the good category for an extended period, also moved into the moderate category after recording an API reading of 53, joining Kapit and Limbang in the same category. — DayakDaily
