SIBU, Mar 1: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) today launched its Free Ambulance Service programme to help bring patients to Sibu General Hospital or to Jalan Oya Polyclinic.
PKR Sibu chief Abdul Raafidin Majidi, who launched the initiative, said surveys were made at hospitals and polyclinics, and it was found that there were patients who went to hospitals and polyclinics using public transport such as buses and illegal vans.
“In order to safeguard the welfare of the people and to be in line with our tagline ‘Work hard for the People’, PKR Nangka came out with the initiative to ease the burden of the patients,” said Abdul Raafidin in a press statement today.
As there is only one vehicle, the main focus will be for patients around Kampung Dato Lama, Kampung Dato Baru, Kampung Hilir, Kampung Nangka, Kampung Baru, Kampung Teku, Kampung Jeriah and within Nangka state constituency.
“If we have more resources, we will increase the number of vehicles to provide wider coverage of free ambulance services to the people in Sibu area.”
