KUCHING, April 26: Pewaris, the newly formed youth wing of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) for members aged between 18 and 28, is set to hold a dialogue event in Bintulu this June as part of efforts to rally young supporters and strengthen its organisational structure.

Baleh assemblyman and Pewaris chairman Nicholas Kudi Jantai said the programme, known as “Ruai Pewaris”, will serve as a platform to build awareness among PRS youths on the benefits of membership and the wing’s mission within the party.

“Previously, we completed activities in the northern region, including Limbang and Lawas.

“By June, possibly after Gawai, we will start in Bintulu by gathering divisions such as Tatau, Samalaju, Belaga, and Jepak,” he said when met after attending the PRS Supreme Council meeting at the party headquarters yesterday.

Currently, Pewaris has about five active divisions—Batu Danau, Bukit Kota, Pelagus, Murum, and Baleh.

The minimum number of members required to form a Pewaris division is 50.

However, following a successful ‘Ruai Pewaris’ in Batu Danau, the wing has received about 100 additional membership applications.

Nicholas, who leads a 22-member main committee, said Pewaris is committed to grooming young leaders, with his deputy Vionie Zenith Grep actively assisting in outreach efforts. — DayakDaily
