KUCHING, Apr 14: A total of RM11 million in seizures have been recorded nationwide since the implementation of Ops Tiris 4.0 on March 16, with Sarawak accounting for RM6.7 million, which is over half of the total.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, the integrated operation was to tackle smuggling and leakage of diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), cooking oil, sugar, and flour.
Speaking at a press conference following a meeting to establish the Sarawak-level Special Task Force for the Integrated Ops Tiris 4.0 here on Monday (Apr 13), he said that the operation saw the inspection of 13,759 premises resulting in 239 cases.
Breaking it down, he said that 99 cases involved diesel with a seizure value of RM3.1 million, 61 involved petrol (RM95,387.65), 30 involved LPG (RM45,103.34), and 49 involved cooking oil, sugar, and flour.
“This is the result of the hard work of our strategic partners from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the General Operations Force (PGA), the Marine Police Force (PPM), the Immigration Department (JIM), the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM), and the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).
“I also call on the people of Sarawak to be our eyes and ears. Close cooperation between the federal and State governments is key to ensuring our economic sovereignty is safeguarded for the well-being of future generations,” he said, in which his talking points were made available to the media. — DayakDaily
