DPM Fadillah undergoes successful heart bypass surgery, in stable condition

KUCHING, Aug 14: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof has successfully undergone heart bypass surgery and is now in stable condition while undergoing recovery.

According to a statement posted on his social media today, Fadillah, who is also Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, underwent the procedure at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Wednesday (Aug 12).

“Alhamdulillah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof has successfully undergone heart bypass surgery at the National Heart Institute (IJN) last Wednesday, Aug 12, 2026,” the statement said.

Fadillah and his family expressed their appreciation to the IJN medical team for its commitment, expertise and professional care throughout his treatment.

They also thanked ministries, mosques, surau, houses of worship operated by government and private agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), relatives, friends and Malaysians nationwide for their continuous prayers and support for his recovery.

Fadillah, 63, is the Member of Parliament for Petra Jaya and one of Malaysia’s two Deputy Prime Ministers. — DayakDaily
