SONG, March 8: Two National Registration Department (NRD) Mobile Bus units launched here on Monday will enable rural folks to get a replacement of their MyKad within 30 minutes as well as address other issues related to identification documents.

Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan and NRD Malaysia director-general Dato Roslin Jusoh officiated at the symbolic launch of the mobile buses as part of the Menyemai Kasih Rakyat (Mekar) programme.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Ruslin said the mobile bus is equipped with a MyKad printer and allows the MyKad replacement process to take only 30 minutes.

“The Mekar programme is being implemented to assist rural residents who are unable to physically visit the NRD office.

“Apart from providing services for the application of identity cards, replacement of identity cards, birth registration and extraction of birth registers and so on, the NRD team also goes down to the ground to offer advisory services.

“This is important to ensure that the locals know what the processes are in the event of a birth and so on,” he said in a press conference after the launch ceremony at the Song Waterfront compound.

Meanwhile, Lidam hopes that such a programme could solve the problems of identification documents for locals, especially in Song District.

This time the programme was also joined by the Mobile Court Unit for the handling of Oath Declaration documents and other related matters. — DayakDaily
