KUCHING, Aug 26: MyKad printing services nationwide are expected to experience temporary disruptions from today (Aug 26) to Monday (Aug 31) as the National Registration Department (NRD) transitions to the new-generation MyKad.

NRD said the transition involves replacing the existing MyKad structure with the new-generation identity card.

In view of the temporary disruption, members of the public without urgent requirements are advised to defer MyKad replacement or renewal applications during the period.

“For first-time MyKad applications for children aged 12, parents or guardians are also encouraged to wait for a while so that their children can receive the new-generation MyKad once issuance begins in the near future,” NRD said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 25).

NRD thanked the public for their patience and cooperation throughout the transition process and apologised for any inconvenience caused. — Bernama
