Non-essential movement, karaoke, farmers’ markets, massage centres not allowed in red zones in latest SOPs

Tighter restrictions for Covid-19 red zones in Sarawak.

KUCHING, April 20: Inter-zone movement except for essential services with police permits, reflexology and spa centres, massage therapy centres, karaoke establishments, gyms, farmers’ markets, night markets, uptown or downtown markets and Ramadan bazaars are not allowed to operate in Covid-19 red zones in Sarawak starting tomorrow (April 21).

This comes as part of circuit breaker restrictions that will be enforced for six days starting tomorrow until April 26 in Kuching Zone (including Samarahan and Serian divisions), Sri Aman, Sarikei Zone (including Betong Division), Mukah, Bintulu, Miri, Beluru, Subis, Telang Usan, Marudi, Limbang, Sibu, Kanowit, Selangau, Kapit, Song, Belaga and Bukit Mabong.


On top of the restrictions for red zones, night clubs or pubs, cinemas or any activity that would attract and gather large numbers of people until physical distancing cannot be observed such as fun runs, fun rides, marathons and triathlons are not permitted in all zones be it orange, yellow or green under the latest updated Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) guidelines issued today.

On movement restrictions, food delivery services are only allowed to operate from 6am to 10pm throughout the CMCO period.

The number of passengers in private vehicles are according to the capacity of the vehicle.

However, individuals belonging to high-risk groups and children are not encouraged to visit public places and crowded areas.

The number of passengers allowed in vehicles transporting goods, and for essential services as well as chain of economic activities and industries are subject to the registration licence of the trading vehicle.

Movement of private vehicles and vehicles belonging government departments or private companies to go and back from workplaces or to carry out official government business are subject to the capacity of the said vehicles.

Activities and services in airports and ports are allowed to operate as usual.

Public transportation such as public bus, express bus, ferry, airline, taxi and e-hailing are allowed to operate according to their schedules and based on vehicle capacity.

Holding religious activities is subject to specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Covid-19 red zones issued by the State Islamic Authority and Unit for Other Religions (Unifor). — DayakDaily
