KUCHING, Sept 5: Sarawak has emerged as the overall champion of Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026, with Pavilion Sarawak taking the Best State Pavilion award at the national agriculture, horticulture and agro-tourism exhibition.
In a statement, the Ministry said MAHA 2026, held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from Aug 28 to Sept 6, brings together exhibitors from across the country to showcase developments, products and opportunities in the agriculture and agro-food sectors.
For Sarawak, the top award came with RM15,000 in prize money and a certificate of appreciation. Sarawak Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Permanent Secretary Datu Sirai Daha received the award alongside officers and staff from Pavilion Sarawak.
Beyond the accolade, Pavilion Sarawak offered visitors a glimpse into the State’s diverse agro-food and commodity landscape, bringing together products, innovations, culture and entrepreneurship under one platform.
Its showcase also highlighted the breadth of Sarawak’s agricultural potential, while giving local entrepreneurs and industry players an opportunity to promote their products to a national audience.
At the same time, the pavilion reflected a coordinated effort involving Sarawak ministries, departments and agencies, as well as entrepreneurs and industry players, in advancing the State’s agriculture and commodity sectors.
The prize was presented by Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
With Sarawak taking the top pavilion award, MAHA 2026 has also provided a national platform for the State to strengthen visibility for its agro-food and commodity products and position its agricultural and agro-tourism offerings to a wider market. — DayakDaily
