Newly elevated i-CATS University College gets MOHE’s nod

KUCHING, Dec 19: The International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-Cats) Kuching is now recognised as a University College, approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

Sarawak Skills executive director and i-Cats managing director Hallman Sabri said the official launching of i-CATS University College (i-CATS UC) will be held in March 2021 in conjunction with Sarawak Skills/ i-Cats 23rd Convocation.

“With the recent approval by MOHE, i-CATS is now known as i-CATS UC. This momentous milestone heralds a new era for us in our ongoing quest to produce a qualified and competent workforce through continuous learning and development.


“This sets the stage for i-CATS UC to develop and offer a wide range of home-grown undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for Malaysian and international students,” he said in a statement today.

Hallman revealed that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg would be invited to the forthcoming launching ceremony.

In preparation for the big event, i-Cats UC is organising the i-Cats UC Corporate Logo Competition where cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. However, details of the competition will be announced in due time.

With this milestone, Hallman disclosed that the university is offering its first home-grown Bachelor in Tourism and Hospitality (Honours) degree programme for the March intake.

Meanwhile, the intake for diploma programmes in January, 2021 proceeds as usual. — DayakDaily
