KUCHING, May 11: Effective May 14, nightclub and pub employees and customers must check-in via MySejahtera upon entering the premises and while on site, must activate the MySJ Trace function.

Operators of nightclubs and pubs are responsible for the compliance of their employees and customers, according to this latest standard operating procedures (SOPs) released by the government.

Operators must also only allow employees and customers with low risk status to enter their business premises.

“Those who have tested positive for Covid-19 and individuals who are under home surveillance order (HSO) are not allowed to enter these premises (nightclubs and pubs),” according to the new SOP.

Operators must also ensure that customers wear face masks while inside the premises except when eating, drinking and dancing.

Individuals intending to patronise nightclubs or pubs must first take Covid-19 self-tests, under the supervision of a medical practitioner registered with Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) either physically or virtually 24 hours before entering the premises.

In cases where customers fail to conduct Covid-19 RTK self-tests 24 hours prior to them patronising these premises, they will be required to do so on the spot.

Only customers with negative Covid-19 self-test results which are carried out 24 hours prior are allowed to enter these entertainment joints.

Meanwhile, nightclub and pub operators must also ensure that the premises have good ventilation systems, in accordance with the requirement of the Guidelines for Ventilation and Indoor Air Quality of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH). This is especially crucial for businesses operating in enclosed spaces.

An overall sanitisation exercise must be carried should a Covid-19 case be detected on these premises. If a cluster is detected, the case must be reported to the nearest district health office.
