4,000 Dayak kuih distributed to public via drive-thru in conjunction with Gawai Dayak

KUCHING, May 12: Traditional Dayak kuih was distributed to the public today in conjunction with Sarawak’s Gawai Dayak festival.

“Program Mantar Aco Lepa Ajau Birami Gawai 2022” which was held this afternoon at the Radio Televisyen Malaysia Sarawak (RTM) badminton court, was co-organised by RTM, the Department of Agriculture Sarawak (DOA), and the Universities Malaya Dayak Alumni Association (Padum), and was officiated at by Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development (Manred) Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.


“Agriculture will be the thrust of our Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy, and by 2030, we should have achieved a high level of food self-sufficiency (SSL),” Dr Rundi said during his speech.

The programme which was organised for the first time was inspired by “Program Drive-Thru Lambuk Pedas” during Ramadan.

Following the ceremony, 4,000 types of traditional kuih consisting of delicacies of the Iban, Bidayuh, Kenyah/Kayan, and Lun Bawang/Bisaya were distributed to the public for free via drive-thru this afternoon at the RTM compound here.

RTM, DOA, and Padum began making and packing the traditional kuih for distribution as early as 8.30 am today.

Also present were the State RTM broadcasting director Nasrul Hakim Md Noh and DOA acting director Dominic Chunggat. — DayakDaily
