KUCHING, Nov 4: A pastor in Miri has fallen victim to a non-existent investment scam on Facebook, losing RM430,000 in the process.

According to Sarawak Commissioner of Police Dato Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri, the 40-year-old male victim filed a police report regarding the incident on Nov 3.

The victim had come across an advertisement on foreign stock investment while browsing Facebook, posted by an account with the name ‘Masterpeng Feshui’.

After expressing interest in the ads, the victim was added to a WhatsApp group named ‘Gao Sheng Business School 107’ and began communicating with a woman suspect named ‘Yuki.’

She offered the victim a deal promising a 10 per cent return within a week.

The victim then proceeded to invest through a website by making 11 monetary transactions in stages totaling about RM430,000 to three different bank accounts, from September to October.

Realising he had been scammed, the victim contacted the police after the suspect requested an additional payment of RM300,000, having received only RM3,000 in returns from the investment. — DayakDaily
