MIRI, Nov 4: Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Development I (Women and Childhood Development) Datuk Rosey Yunus, expressed optimism about the future of the Sarawakiana Festival.

She believes that with the right approach, the festival can reach international acclaim, allowing Sarawak to showcase its unique traditional culture to the world.

The Sarawakiana Carnival, in its seventh biennial edition since its inception in 2010, has chosen the theme ‘Sarawak Textile Heritage’ to showcase the state’s cultural and artistic heritage, history, customs, and traditions.

The festival features various activities and programs, including exhibitions, workshops, lectures, the sale of handicrafts, local cuisine, and more.

Rosey emphasised the importance of promoting the carnival at an international level.

“With many practical ways, including making full use of today’s technologies, I strongly believe we can promote this festival at the international level, like the musical theater Upin and Ipin,” Rosey, who is also Bekenu assemblywoman, pointed out.

The goal is to introduce Sarawak’s rich cultural, creative arts, and historical relics to the world for research and development purposes.
