KUCHING, July 3: Malaysia’s health and wellness sector continues to gain recognition, with many Cambodians choosing the country for medical treatment—a reflection of the trust and confidence Malaysia continues to earn among its regional neighbours.
In a Facebook post, Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Dato Seri Tiong King Sing said this followed a discussion with Cambodian diplomat and Asean Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn during the latter’s visit to Malaysia for the 39th Asia-Pacific Roundtable.
“We had a fruitful discussion on strengthening Asean tourism cooperation, advancing the Asean Tourism Strategic Plan (ATSP) 2026–2030, enhancing regional connectivity, and promoting multi-destination travel across the region.
“Kao also shared his positive views on Malaysia’s health and wellness sector, noting that many Cambodians continue to choose Malaysia for health treatment.
“It is encouraging to see Malaysia continuing to earn the confidence of our regional neighbours,” said Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP and Dudong assemblyman.
Tiong added that, with Visit Malaysia 2026 now extended through 2027, Malaysia remains committed to contributing meaningfully to Asean’s tourism agenda.
“We look forward to working closely with the Asean Secretariat and fellow Member States to advance the ATSP 2026–2030 and further strengthen Asean as a leading tourism destination,” he said. — DayakDaily
