Minister calls for urgent repairs for 35 dilapidated schools in Sri Aman, Lubok Antu

KUCHING, March 13: Sarawak Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD) Datuk Francis Harden Hollis has emphasised the urgent need for repairs in 35 dilapidated schools under Sri Aman and Lubok Antu District Education offices.

According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Harden stated that 18 schools are in Sri Aman and 17 in Lubok Antu.


The minister highlighted that the schools’ repairs are already being planned by the District Education offices of Sri Aman and Lubok. However, the plan is awaiting immediate allocation from the federal and State governments for the repairs to commence promptly.

Harden, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, made the remarks during a special briefing on the development of dilapidated schools in Simanggang yesterday (March 12).

He additionally said that several school renovation and rebuilding projects for Sri Aman Division have been planned, with some of the developments already underway.

Furthermore, the minister emphasised the importance of all parties from the Ministry of Education working together at the federal and State levels to improve dilapidated schools. — DayakDaily
