KUCHING, March 11: A special meeting to discuss the issue of medical personnel from Sarawak who want to move back to the State will be held sometime this month.

According to Suara Sarawak, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the matter will be discussed with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council Technical Committee (JKTMTPMA63).

“In the meeting, we can discuss this by looking at the presentation from Sarawak and the perspective from the federal side.

“We can view the situation holistically, considering the administrative perspective, the availability of positions, the location, and the practical needs of the health ministry.

“We will also discuss Sarawak’s health autonomy,” he said to reporters at the Satok Ramadan Bazaar recently.

According to Fadillah, the proposal for all medical specialists from Sarawak to move back to their home State is not relevant.

“If everyone wants to return (to Sarawak), it is not good either because sometimes we need simulation,” he said.

So far, he stated that transfers have been made based on the needs of positions in Sarawak.

Earlier, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said that more than 800 nurses from Sarawak who are working out of the State intend to serve in their hometowns. — DayakDaily
