Jisan, a welder from Kampung Jagoi Stass, Bau, pleaded guilty to the charge read before Judge Iris Awen Jon.

The charge was filed under Section 326 of the Penal Code, alongside Section 326A, for causing grievous harm using a weapon.

The incident took place at their home in Kampung Jagoi Stass around 6.15pm on Sept 22.

According to court proceedings, Jisan attacked his 84-year-old mother with a machete, causing severe injuries.

If convicted under these sections, a person can face up to 20 years in prison, in addition to fines or caning.

Police were alerted to the situation when one of Jisan’s siblings reported the attack. Authorities quickly apprehended Jisan at the scene, and his mother was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Medical reports revealed that she suffered injuries to both her right and left hands, a fractured right thigh, and a broken left pinky finger as a result of the assault.

During the hearing, Jisan admitted to being intoxicated and having an argument with his mother prior to the attack. He expressed regret over the incident, but the court proceeded with the sentence.
