In politics, women are more trustworthy than men, says Masing

SIBU, March 8: Women are more reliable than men in keeping their words and loyalty to an organisation, said Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Masing.

He observed that in politics particularly, women are more trustworthy.

“They have very keen sense of observing change within their surroundings, including change in people’s behaviors, and most importantly, they are more reliable than men in keeping their words and in keeping their loyalty to an organisation,” he said when speaking at PRS International Women’s Day celebration and fund raising dinner yesterday.

PRS Women’s chief Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie was present.

Masing urged women to continue fighting for their rights. He called on PRS women members to fight for their rights within the party.

He added that as president of the party, it has been his prime objective that the men share leadership positions and responsibilities, as well as the bounty of the government with their better half.

“However, it is easier said than done. My male counterpart have not move out from the traditional circle of male dominance. Ladies, please don’t give up your hope on me and pursuing women’s rights, your rights, within PRS,” he said.

The deputy chief minister also called on the people to be nice to their spouses, be they husbands or wives, as together they could produce generations of good leaders.

“We don’t want to produce a generation of people who will turn our country upside down, or those who are capable in the art of acrobatic moves of ‘putar belit’ (twist around) in politics.

“Nor do we want to be led by people who created the political mess in the first place, and then pretended to be the cleaner (government), in order to salvage their past misdeeds and wrong doings,” he said.

He opined that “pretenders in the society” should be rid off, when making reference to the current political turmoil that is affecting the country.

“In the past few weeks we experienced the political roller coaster in Malaysia. It wasn’t one of the best roller coaster rides. I don’t think we would like to experience such a ride too soon. Nor was the recent political turmoil good for our country,” he continued.

He claimed that such political turmoil and uncertainties caused by leaders jostling for power, had led to the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) lost RM43 billion in one single day.

“Failure of leaders to honour their words and lied to us might have been the consequences of mishandling during their younger days. However, women are the most creative and ‘inventive creature on earth’.

“They can make things better and become the best. They can turn tears of pain to tears of joy with a slight change of tone in their voice and a warm hug to those who suffered,” he said.

At the event, Masing contributed RM50,000 to the dinner, while acknowledging the importance of women in shaping and moulding future leaders. — DayakDaily
