KUCHING, Nov 19: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) managed to wrest back P208 Sarikei from Democratic Action Party (DAP) through Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii in the 15th General Election (GE15) today.
Huang, who is also the Repok assemblyman from Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) managed to achieve the feat with a majority of 3,697 votes by garnering 20,080 votes against Roderick Wong Siew Lead’s 16,383 votes in a straight fight.
This was Huang’s second attempt to take back Sarikei. In his first attempt in GE14 in 2018, he ran against Roderick’s father Andrew Wong and lost.
The elder Wong defended the seat with 16,327 votes while Huang garnered 13,757 votes and Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) candidate Wong Chin King polled 392 votes. — DayakDaily
