KUCHING, June 9: Get exclusive ticket deals to the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) and Borneo Jazz Festival (BJF) via a ticket sales blitz by Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) at Plaza Merdeka and Saradise Feast.

According to a press release from STB, the sales promotion will take place at the entrance area of Saradise Feast from June 10 to June 12, 2022, and in Plaza Merdeka from June 11 to June 12, 2022.

“Both sales promotions will commence from 10am to 10pm.


“Domestic travel agencies and tour operators from Sarawak will be on the ground promoting both festivals,” STB said.

STB also revealed in its press release that this year’s RWMF, themed “Legendary Rainforest Celebration”, will take place from June 17 to June 19, 2022, in a hybrid format that will include a physical concert at Sarawak Cultural Village as well as a live streaming platform for those watching from home.

“RWMF will feature international performers from Canada, India, the United States, Finland, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Madagascar, Ukraine, China, Bhutan, and Seoul, among others, as well as a number of Malaysian talents such as Alena Murang, At Adau from Sarawak, Bamboo Woods from Sabah, and many more.

“The festival will return to its usual format of daytime workshops and evening concerts, as well as a variety of other activities throughout the festival.

“Festival goers can enjoy the arts and craft fair, which features the best of Borneo handicrafts, as well as a diverse selection of traditional delicacies from the food bazaar,” STB added.

It also revealed the daytime musical workshops will bring together diverse musicians from various disciplines, bringing these talents together under unifying themes to showcase, jam, and create unique music in the Sarawak Cultural Village setting.

“Among the activities to look out for are the Sape Gathering, which will bring together anyone in Sarawak who can strum a sape, and a kiddies’ workshop to bring on the next generation, where they can play with instruments, create art, and enjoy the festival grounds to their hearts’ content.

“Festival goers may choose from the following ticket categories at pre-sale prices: Adult 1-Day Pass (RM165), Adult 3-Day Pass (RM405), Child 1-Day Pass (RM85), Child 3-Day Pass (RM195), and 1-Day Family Package Pass, which includes 2 Adults and 2 Children (RM440).

“Additionally, the virtual tickets cost RM25 for a one-hour block.”

Meanwhile, STB disclosed that the 17th edition of BJF, themed “Jazz in The Jungle”, will be held from June 24 to June 26, 2022 in Coco Cabana, Miri in a hybrid format for the first time in order to reach out to the larger jazz-loving community worldwide.

“Performers from Singapore, Japan, France, Switzerland, the United States, and Hungary, as well as the best names in Malaysian jazz, will be showcasing their talent in jazz music,” it stated.

For the general public category, a 1-Day Pass costs RM128 per ticket, a 2-Day Pass costs RM228 per ticket, and a 3-Day Pass costs RM338 per ticket.

“As for students and senior citizens, 1-Day Pass is priced at RM88 per ticket, 2-Day Pass is RM128 per ticket and 3-Day Pass is RM188 per ticket.

“For virtual viewing, tickets are priced at RM25 per one-hour block.

Malaysia Airlines, the national carrier under Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), has been named the official airline partner, with Karuna as the official ticketing partner of the RWMF and BJF 2022.

“The RWMF and BJF 2022 continues to advance STB’s agenda on Responsible Tourism through its ecoGreenPlanet programme.

“Through this greening initiative, members of the public will also be able to contribute to the programme where RM10 for each RM25 virtual RWMF or BJF ticket sold will be donated towards the tree-planting activities that will be held after the festivals,” STB added. — DayakDaily
