KUCHING, July 10: Food aid distribution in Batang Sadong parliamentary constituency will be distributed in stages for those who are really in need, says Batang Sadong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
According to Nancy, the food aid will be handed out to those who are really in need, based on the list from the Batang Sadong Social Welfare Department (JKM).
“Apart from the allocation given by the State and Federal governments, we also received some personal donations, which we use for distribution to the ‘asnaf’, according to the list from the Welfare Department, before being handed over to Islamic Da’wah Foundation of Malaysia (Yadim),” said Nancy during a press conference held after officiating at the symbolic food aid handing over ceremony in Gedong last Friday.
On the same note, Nancy, who is also Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, pointed out that a total of 4,800 households, including the E-Kasih recipients in Gedong constituency will soon benefit from the RM300,000 parliamentary allocation given by the Federal government.
She said with the cooperation between both parliamentary and state constituencies, it would enable them to give out more assistance to the people.
“It would not be enough if the state or parliamentary elected representatives in the area are giving out the assistance personally. As such we are working together to enable us to help more people,” she added. — DayakDaily
