KUCHING, May 1: Labour Day is not just about celebrating the contributions of the nation’s workforce, but also honouring the dedication, perseverance, and spirit of every individual who forms the backbone of Malaysia’s progress.

In a Facebook page, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing said that within his capacity as Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, he has witnessed firsthand how the entire industry value chain—from tourism players such as travel agencies, hotel operators, tour guides, airlines, and transport providers, to artists, craft entrepreneurs, cultural communities, event organisers, and heritage custodians— each plays a vital role in driving the economy and strengthening our national identity.

“We remain committed to ensuring that this industry ecosystem stays resilient, inclusive, and sustainable, so that every effort contributed is not only appreciated but also creates greater opportunities and well-being for the people.

“May the spirit of Labour Day continue to inspire us to move forward, together building a stronger and more prosperous Malaysia,” said Tiong, who is also Bintulu MP and Dudong assemblyman.

Meanwhile, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi echoed similar sentiments, saying that every drop of sweat—from the cities to the rural areas, from the public to the private sector—contributes significantly to ensuring that the nation continues to progress.

“Regardless of the field—be it construction, education, healthcare, security, or others—you all play a vital role in building the nation’s future.

“As the Minister of Works, I deeply appreciate the dedication and commitment of the staff of the Ministry of Works and its agencies, especially those directly involved in the development of national infrastructure,” he said on his Facebook.

Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, said that every road built, every bridge that connects communities, and every project completed is the result of everyone’s hard work.

“Let us continue to strengthen our spirit of togetherness, enhance productivity, and elevate the dignity of the nation’s workforce to greater heights.

“Thank you for all your contributions and sacrifices. Happy Labour Day to all Malaysians.” — DayakDaily
