KUCHING, May 1: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has extended his Labour Day 2026 greetings to all workers in the State, acknowledging their contributions towards Sarawak’s development and societal wellbeing.
In a statement issued by Astana Sarawak today, he and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, conveyed their appreciation to the workforce across all sectors.
Wan Junaidi emphasised that every role, whether in the public or private sector, carries its own value and dignity, underscoring the importance of workers as the backbone of progress.
Commenting on this year’s Labour Day theme, “Pekerja Kesuma Bangsa”, alongside Sarawak’s theme “Pekerjaan Cemerlang, Sarawak Maju Makmur”, he said both reflect the vital role of workers as the driving force of development.
He stressed that the welfare, safety, and overall wellbeing of workers must remain a priority to ensure sustainable and balanced growth.
At the same time, he called on all parties to continue strengthening a professional, integrity-driven, and team-oriented work culture.
He expressed confidence that through strong synergy between employees, employers, and the government, Sarawak will continue to advance as a prosperous, competitive, and respected State on the international stage. — DayakDaily
