KUCHING, March 24: There is no draft of a new government agreement, as claimed by Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders, regarding the demand for allocations for opposition elected representatives.

According to a press statement issued by Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, he did not submit any draft documents, as Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin claimed happened during a meeting.

As reported by The Star on March 17, Hamzah and representatives from the Opposition party requested a postponement of discussions on allocation issues until the following week (last week).

Fadillah mentioned that discussions regarding allocations for opposition members of Parliament were supposed to take place last Tuesday (March 12), according to the news outlet.

In the statement today, Fadillah, who is also the Unity Government chief whip, stated that during the meeting in Parliament, he only listened to PN’s request and heard what they had to offer.

“There is no ‘draft agreement’ document between the Madani Government and the Opposition as claimed.

“I emphasise once again that during my meeting with opposition representatives last week, no documents were provided by the Madani Government or the Opposition.

“It was just a session to hear their requests and offers, and there was no discussion regarding any ‘agreement’,” he said.

Fadillah, who is also Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, urged Hulu Terengganu MP Datuk Rosol Wahid, who mentioned the draft, to request it from the opposition leader.

“Let’s see if that draft (agreement) exists or not,” he added.

Meanwhile, in a news report by Malaysiakini on March 21, Hamzah told the Dewan Rakyat that he had received a draft of the allocation requests for their respective constituencies.

He said the opposition would discuss the draft, sign it, then get the allocation. — DayakDaily
