KOTA SAMARAHAN, April 4: Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) has raised RM22,850 to be donated to the surviving children of the Sarawakian couple who passed away in an electrocution accident in Cameron Highlands.

Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada and DBNA president Datu Ik Pahon Joyik handed over the donation to the children and their guardian at the house of designated guardian, Robert Adi, in Taman Samarindah Baru today.

Also present were DBNA vice president and DBNA Serian secretary Dr Clarence Jerry, DBNA Serian assistant secretary Rolland Linggat (also donation coordinator), and exco member Richard Banter.

The DBNA Serian branch initiated the donation drive from March 12 to 18 among DBNA members through their WhatsApp chat group.

RM8,500 was handed over to the guardian from the funds raised, while the remaining funds have been deposited to the respective Skim Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN) accounts of the three siblings.

Arrangements are now being made to transfer the two oldest siblings, aged 10 and 8, to a school in Samarahan.

On March 10, their parents, Damian Senin, 46, and Ronwina Mambai, 35, were found dead in the bathroom of their house in Taman Puncak Tringkap in Cameron Highlands.

The late Damian hailed from Kampung Daha Kisau, the same village as Sinang.

Their bodies were laid to rest in the Christian cemetery at Section 21 in Shah Alam on March 13 ― a day after the post-mortem was conducted at Sultan Hajjah Kalsom Hospital in Tanah Rata.

The siblings were flown home together with Robert and his wife, Kelly Jhon, on March 16.

Robert, 43, is the older brother of the late Ronwina, who hailed from Ruan Lubang Tiung in Simunjan. ― DayakDaily
