Jamil Hamali re-elected as IDEAS president for 2022-2023

KUCHING, April 4: Professor Dato Dr Jamil Hamali was re-elected president of the Invention and Design Association of Sarawak (IDEAS) on Sunday during its annual general meeting (AGM) and election of office bearers for the term 2022 to 2023.

According to a press release issued today, the new management committee includes Frankie Yang as vice president, Dr Khadijah Khalid as secretary, and Dr Ahmad Lufti Abis as treasurer.

The committee includes Prof Dr Ling Siew Eng, Associate Prof Dr Margaret Chan Kit Yok, Associate Professor Dr Saiful Bahari Yusof, Noorsaidi Mahat, Chan Choon Ann, and IDEAS auditors Dr Asmah Alia Mohamad Bohari and Magdaliene Perreau.


“IDEAS is a Sarawak-based organisation for inventors, designers, and other interested parties.

“It is the brainchild of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also our patron,” it stated in its press release.

Meanwhile, IDEAS intends to hold a two-day creative and invention camp throughout Sarawak with the theme ‘To Inculcate the Creative and Innovative Mind of the Youth Generation’ to spread innovation and creativity among the youth.

IDEAS’ membership is categorised into five types — Ordinary, Associate, Corporate, Institutional, and Junior.

The fees are RM30 for Ordinary, RM20 for Associate, RM 110 for Corporate, RM50 for Institutional, and RM20 for Junior.

It includes an entrance fee of RM10 each and an annual subscription fee of RM20 for Ordinary, RM10 for Associate, RM100 for Corporate, RM40 for Institutional, and RM10 for Junior.
