KUCHING, Nov 20: Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Dato Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has denied entering into any agreement on forming the federal government with Perikatan Nasional (PN).

He clarified that the coalition has never at all consulted with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to agree to form the federal government with PN.

He was responding to GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s earlier statement that GPS will form the federal government with PN, BN and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

“I would also like to inform that there has been no consultation with PN so far that could lead to an understanding to form a government with the coalition in question,” he said in a statement posted on BN’s Facebook page today.

Zahid further said that all BN Members of Parliament (MPs) who won in the 15th General Election (GE15) have signed an undertaking and given him a mandate as the BN president to determine any political coalition in forming the federal government.

“In this regard, any MP who violates the party’s instructions will result in the release of party membership including the parliamentary seat, in line with the law prohibiting members of the Dewan Rakyat from changing parties as stipulated under Article 49A of the Federal Constitution,” he added. — DayakDaily
