KUCHING, Nov 20: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has agreed to work together with Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to form the next federal government.

GPS chairman-cum-Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said PN president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be the preferred prime minister candidate.

The Premier announced this in a special press conference at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters here earlier this afternoon.

However, he added, the Prime Minister candidate still depends on the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Meanwhile, Abang Johari explained that the decision to work together with PN, BN and GRS was made to strengthen and stablise the country in order to ensure the wellbeing of the people.

He said forming a government is of the utmost important now and every difference at this stage should be set aside.

“As I said, the moment the election result is out, we then will give our support for a stable government. That is our condition.

“We have been given the mandate by the ‘rakyat’ and now, our job is to set up the government based on the mandate received,” he said. — DayakDaily
