Betong, Kanowit turn red, Pusa, Song turn yellow zones for Covid-19 infections

KUCHING, Feb 27: The Covid-19 situation in Betong and Kanowit has worsened as both districts turned into red zones of Covid-19 today.

A red zone of Covid-19 is a zone or district which reported 41 cases of coronavirus in the past 14 days.


According to a press statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Betong and Kanowit have turned into red zones of Covid-19 after reporting 46 cases and 45 cases respectively in the past two weeks.

The Selangau district has turned into an orange zone after reporting a total of 40 cases of Covid-19 in the past fortnight.

An orange zone of Covid-19 is a zone or district which has reported 21 to 40 cases of coronavirus in the past 14 days.

The committee added the Pusa and Song districts have turned into yellow zones of Covid-19.

A yellow zone of Covid-19 is a zone that reported one to 20 cases of Covid-19 in the past two weeks.

SDMC said Pusa has reported two new cases of Covid-19 while Song has reported a total of 17 cases of local infection in the past fortnight.

In the meantime, Meradong, Kuching, Samarahan, Julau, Subis, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu remained as red zones of Covid-19 with a cumulative of 2,562 cases of local transmission in the past two weeks.

Four districts namely Bau, Bukit Mabong, Dalat and Sri Aman stayed as orange zones of Covid-19 with a total of 114 cases of local infection in the past 14 days.

As many as 10 districts which include Asajaya, Beluru, Sarikei, Lundu, Saratok, Sebauh, Tatau, Pakan, Serian and Belaga were still classified as yellow zones of Covid-19 with a cumulative 60 cases of local transmission in the past two weeks.

There are 12 districts namely Matu, Lawas, Daro, Simunjan, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan, Limbang, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Mukah, Kabong and Marudi which reported zero cases of Covid-19 in the past 14 days. —DayakDaily
