KUCHING, April 4: A woman was killed while two others were injured in single vehicle accident near Lubok Antu junction yesterday (April 3).
According to a report from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received an alert regarding the accident from Malaysian Emergency Rescue Services (MERS) 999 at 8.40pm and deployed a team from Bomba Betong to the location.
Upon arrival, the operation commander confirmed that the incident involved a four-wheel drive vehicle.
It was believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle and it skidded onto the opposite road before landing upside down in a roadside ditch.
The accident caused the victim, who was a passenger, to be thrown out of the vehicle before being crushed by the vehicle as it overturned.
The driver and another passenger, who suffers multiple injuries, were extracted by members of the public before the arrival of firefighters.
Firefighters utilised a towing service vehicle to move the four-wheel drive vehicle in order to free the victim’s body which was pinned under it. The victim was later confirmed deceased at the scene by medical personnel from Ministry of Health (MOH).
After ensuring that the situation was safe and under control, firefighters ended the operation at 9.51pm. — DayakDaily
