The team encountered several challenges, including the lack of communication coverage at the site, difficult access due to tidal changes, and rugged, hilly terrain.

The second day of operations concluded at 3pm, with the final estimated affected area between 10,000 and 10,500 square metres. No major fire spread was recorded, thanks to the firebreaks created a day earlier.

The operation involved two portable pump units drawing seawater as the main source, four nozzles, a 260-metre hose, and one hose line.

Monitoring efforts will continue under the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), which will provide updates should the fire reignite.

The operation was supported by members of the Kampung Bako Indah Voluntary Fire Brigade and SFC officers from Bako National Park. — DayakDaily
