12 S’wak schools score over 3.00 CGPA in STPM 2024, SMK Sacred Heart named Best National Sixth Form Centre

KUCHING, June 24: A total of 12 schools in Sarawak recorded outstanding achievements in the 2024 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination by attaining a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of over 3.00.

According to a TVS news report, Sarawak Education director Omar Mahli said the schools involved are SMK Sacred Heart, SMK Chung Hua, SMK Bandar Sibu, SMK Rosli Dhoby, SMK Methodist, and SMK Tung Hua in Sibu; SMK Green Road and SMK Bako in Kuching; SMK Merbau, SMK Chung Hua, and Kolej Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang in Miri; and SMK Saribas in Betong.

“SMK Sacred Heart, Sibu emerged as one of the top performers after being named the Best National Sixth Form Centre for Mode 2 and Mode 3, raising Sarawak’s profile at the national level,” he said at the STPM 2024 Results Announcement Ceremony held at Yayasan Sarawak here today.

A total of 92 STPM candidates in Sarawak achieved a perfect CGPA of 4.00 this year, up from 88 in 2023, while 5,717 candidates who sat for the examination qualified to receive full certificates.

Overall, Sarawak recorded a state average CGPA of 2.68 for STPM 2024, with 27.46 per cent of candidates scoring between 3.00 and 3.74.

SMK Sungai Merah student Kong Wei Hang also made Sarawak proud after being named the Best STPM 2024 Science Stream Student, receiving official recognition from the Malaysian Examinations Council. — DayakDaily
