KUCHING, Nov 13: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas suggests forming a special committee to address and solve issues faced by rural Iban voters under the Sibu parliamentary constituency once the 15th General Election (GE15) concludes.

“Rural voters face many problems but have no one to turn to for assistance. Therefore, we can discuss these issues facing them to fulfil some of their more urgent requests first, and I will meet Premier (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri) Abang Johari (Tun Openg) over this.

“For now, it would be known as the PBB Bawang Asan Committee,” said the deputy premier at a meet-the-people session at Rh Salim Unang in Sungai Rasau, Sibu, today.

According to Uggah, after Democratic Action Party (DAP) took control of the Sibu parliamentary seat, the people suffered from many issues, mainly infrastructural and utility woes. He said they have no proper road to link them to Sibu town, several longhouses still do not have access to treated water supply, and no nearby health clinic.

“So I advised them to vote for a change this Nov 19. Please cast your votes in favour of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Clarence Ting from Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP). If he wins, he will be your vital bridge to the government,” he added.

Meanwhile, Uggah reminded that areas where the people had always supported the government had enjoyed good development and progress compared to areas under Opposition elected representatives.

“The party’s local leaders make excuses for being unable to deliver.

“The Dayak voters account for about 30 per cent of the about 100,000 voters in Sibu,” he said. — DayakDaily
