TEBEDU, April 13: The government is ready to increase the Tebedu Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex’s (ICQS) manpower, said Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

He said increasing the manpower at the complex was necessary to improve efficiency.

“We are ready to beef up our machinery here (Tebedu ICQS) with the objective to have a seamless system.

“But at the moment, the process has gone smoothly, it seems the agencies like the Immigration Department, police and private sector that provide testing facilities (for Covid-19) have been working efficiently,” Uggah told reporters today during his working visit to the complex.

The purpose of the visit was to oversee the process of receiving visitors from Indonesia.

Uggah hoped that the agencies at the complex continue to work efficiently, particularly when the complex begins operations on April 15.

According to Uggah, the complex received more then 400 visitors a day before the pandemic and is expecting more when it reopens on April 15.

“We are expecting a bigger crowd when it opens, so we must make the process as seamless as possible so that both travel on both sides (from Indonesia and Sarawak) go smoothly.

“We don’t want people to wait for long hours because of our inefficiency, so we need to be prepared,” he pointed out. — DayakDaily
