Tragedy strikes: Final victim of ‘kepala air’ phenomenon in Kampung Sebat, Sematan found dead

KUCHING, April 13: A 20-year-old man who was swept away by a water column (kepala air) at Kampung Sebat Dayak Waterfall in Lundu has been found dead by search and rescue workers.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre today, the victim’s body was found by local villagers at 7.16am.


The deceased’s body was found lodged in a pile of tree branches on the riverbank, about 100 metres from where he was last seen.

The body was later extracted from the debris by search and rescue personnel and handed over to the police for further action.

It was reported yesterday that one person had drowned while the other was still missing after being swept away by the ‘kepala air’ phenomenon, while two others were rescued by local villagers. — DayakDaily
