KUCHING, April 13: A thunderstorm alert has been issued for nine districts throughout Sarawak until 2pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in an advisory issued at 10.10am, said the affected districts are Sri Aman, Lubok Antu, Sibu, Selangau, Mukah, Dalat, Kapit, Song, and Bintulu.
The department said anticipated weather conditions include heavy rain and strong winds.
It explained a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release, it added. — DayakDaily
