‘Kepala air’ phenomenon at waterfall in Kampung Sebat, Sematan claims 1 life, 1 still missing

KUCHING, April 12: One person has drowned while another is still missing after being swept away by a water column, or ‘kepala air’ phenomenon at a waterfall in Kampung Sebat, Sematan today.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, an emergency call regarding the incident was received at 4.55pm today, which firefighters from Bomba Lundu subsequently responded to.


The operation commander reported that a total of four victims were involved in the incident, where three of them was rescued by local villagers.

“One of the rescued victims was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel from Ministry of Health (MOH),” it said.

A search and reduce operation is currently ongoing to locate the last victim. — DayakDaily
