KUCHING, March 4: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning in several areas in Sarawak this afternoon.
Anticipated weather conditions include thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds affecting Sarikei (Sarikei and Meradong), Sibu (Sibu), Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro), Kapit, Bintulu (Sebauh), and Miri (Marudi).
The warning, issued at 6.40pm today, remains in effect until 9pm.
A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a maximum of six hours per release. — DayakDaily
