The biggest representation so far – 11 Sarawakian MPs appointed

KUCHING, March 9: As many as 11 Sarawakian MPs have been appointed to the new cabinet of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today.

Nine out of the 18 MPs are from the state-ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) leads the appointments with seven lawmakers, followed by one from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) each.

The other two are from the new coalition of Perikatan Nasional – Ali Biju (Saratok) and Willie Mongin (Puncak Borneo).

The seven PBB lawmakers are Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (Petra Jaya), Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar (Santubong), Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi (Kapit), Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri (Batang Sadong), Datuk Henry Sum Agong (Lawas), Datuk Hanifah Taib (Mukah) and Hasbi Habibollah (Limbang).

PRS is represented by its supreme council members Datuk Aaron Dagang (Kanowit) who is Deputy Health Minister while Parti Democratic Parti president who is Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing completes the list by his appointment as National Unity Deputy Minister.

Fadillah, who is also GPS parliamentary whip chief, has been appointed to head the Works Ministry, while Nanta leads Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.

Veteran MP Wan Junaidi took the role of leading Entrepreneur Development and Co-operatives ministry while his colleague Nancy heads Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

In total, GPS has four full ministers and five deputy ministers.

There are 31 parliamentary seats in Sarawak. GPS has 18 seats, followed by Pakatan Harapan (10), Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (2) and one from Parti Sarawak Bersatu. — DayakDaily
