BAU, Nov 8: Having won the eight Bidayuh majority seats in the last 12 State Election, the time is now right for Gabungan Parti Sarawak to win the three Bidayuh majority parliamentary seats in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep said it was necessary that the three Parliamentary seats be won for the community be heard at both the State and Federal levels.

The three seats are Mas Gading, Puncak Borneo and Serian contested by by Lidang Disen, Datuk Willie Mongin and Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem, respectively, representing Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“As we all know, in the last State Election, we won all eight Bidayuh majority seats.

“So it is crucial that this GE15 which polls on Nov 19, that the Bidayuh give full support to our Bidayuh candidates for us to work together under GPS to further move our community forward,” Henry told reporters today.

He earlier officiated at the launching of Community Development and Intervention Centre (CDIC), here, representing Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.

The eight seats won by GPS candidates in the last State Election are Opar, Tasik Biru, Serembu, Mambong, Tebedu, Bukit Semuja and Kedup.

According to Henry, who is Deputy Minister of Transport, the victory in the last State Election was acknowledged by the Premier Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who introduced the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) to develop Bidayuh areas.

“GKCDA is a reciprocal move from our Premier because during the State Election, we (Bidayuh) showed our cohesiveness and togetherness, so such unity amongst the Bidayuh should be translated again during this general election,” Henry stressed.

Henry also said the three-day meeting with the people in Mas Gading has been very positive.

“So far, the response from the people on the ground has been overwhelming and we will continue with the momentum,” he said, adding that either candidate has no problem going to the ground. — DayakDaily
