BAU, Sept 10: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Women Wing has hit back at recent criticism of Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, challenging voters in the constituency to judge the incumbent by what has been delivered on the ground.
PDP Women especially its branch in N2 Tasik Biru said the constituency had seen various development projects since 2016, including a RM100 million upgrade of the old Kuching-Bau Road and the issuance of 6,168 Native Customary Rights (NCR) land titles since 2018.
“We urge the people to evaluate his leadership based on his service and development record on the ground, not merely on allegations or political rhetoric,” it said in a statement today.
The RM100 million Kuching-Bau Road project involves widening a 5.4km stretch from Kampung Sibuluh to Bau town into a dual carriageway.
The wing also cited the Bidayuh Cultural Centre Bau, Bau Sport Arena, Tondong–Sebuku Bridge, Musi–Buso Bridge and the ongoing Serikin Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex among projects it said had contributed to development in the constituency.
On land matters, it said 6,168 NCR land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code had been issued since 2018, with the process continuing annually regardless of whether an election was near.
“Work for the people is not only done during elections. Clean water, electricity, roads, schools, healthcare facilities and community amenities directly affect people’s daily lives,” it said.
PDP Women also argued that a leader’s record should extend beyond completed projects, saying Henry had a vision, mission and development blueprint for the constituency.
It said the Bau Blueprint 2016 had provided a structured direction for development in the area, rather than initiatives being introduced without a long-term plan.
The wing also pointed voters to the Henry’s Admin Page – N2 Tasik Biru, established on Feb 19, 2016, which it said had documented project developments, community activities and other initiatives in the constituency.
“Don’t just listen. Look. Don’t just believe allegations from one side. Check the record. Ultimately, let the people decide,” it said.
PDP Women said it would continue to stand behind Henry for the development, wellbeing and future of N2 Tasik Biru. — DayakDaily
