S’wak taps United Nations Development Programme expertise for green economy push

KUCHING, Aug 17: Sarawak is looking to tap the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s expertise and international networks to accelerate the State’s transition towards a greener and more inclusive economy.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), this was among the areas discussed when Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy call from UNDP Resident Representative for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Edward Mario Vrkic at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi here today.

The discussion also explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in sustainable energy transition, climate and environmental resilience, and green economic development through innovative solutions and expertise-sharing.

UNDP expressed its readiness to support Sarawak’s development aspirations through knowledge-sharing, innovation and access to collaboration networks at the national, regional and international levels.

The cooperation also includes efforts to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in line with Sarawak’s broader push for sustainable and inclusive development. — DayakDaily
