JULAU, Nov 10: The election results for PKR Julau branch has been put on hold due to technical reasons.

According to the branch’s head of election monitor, Mohd Azahari Daud, voting was done via the offline process. Thus, they need to tabulate and sync the results, which will be done by their IT team in Kuala Lumpur.

“There are some technical issues here in Julau. We are unable to reveal any information, because everything was done offline. We will send the information on the tablets to the Central Election Committee and only they can make the official announcement later,” Azahari told reporters who were waiting at the Julau Sports Centre.

He also declined to reveal the voter turnout today.

Sarawak is the final stage of the PKR polls, where members in 29 divisions are casting their votes today and tomorrow to decide who will be the party’s deputy president.

Current vice president Rafizi Ramli is challenging incumbent Datuk Seri Azmin Ali for the deputy president’s post.

Over the past few weeks, Julau division caught nationwide attention due to the dramatic rise in its membership from 603 to 13,000 in June this year.

Julau MP Larry Sng, who is aligned to Rafizi, is seen as the key person behind the membership spike, and the outcome of today’s result might determine Azmin and Rafizi’s fate. — DayakDaily
